The West Rockhill Board of Supervisors Wednesday evening approved $10,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for the Pennridge Community Center.
The move comes a few months before the December 31 deadline to allocate outstanding ARPA funds. West Rockhill directly received $546,478 in ARPA funds and has roughly $200,000 remaining. The $10,000 allocation comes on top of the township’s $2,500 annual contribution to the center.
The township has recently earmarked ARPA funds to resurface Old Mill Road and refurbish the Heritage House at James Park. The board is additionally exploring a fund to recruit and train volunteer firefighters.
Lawn Avenue detour plan
The board approved a Lawn Avenue detour plan for a project to replace the sanitary sewer line on Lawn Avenue from Almont Road to Maple Avenue. Access to Grand View Hospital will be maintained via Lifemark road. A lane will remain open south of the hospital, while the stretch of road in the Sellersville past Noble Street will be closed. Motorists will be redirected to Ridge Road and Bethlehem Pike, while trucks will be redirected to Ridge Road and County Line Road.
The board rejected a resident request for a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Tower Road and Ridge Valley Road, characterizing it as an unnecessary expense. The board noted that the project would require PennDOT approval, an unlikely outcome given the intersection’s insufficient traffic volume, said township manager Greg Lippincott.
The next West Rockhill Board of Supervisors meeting is on September 18 at 7 p.m. For more information, visit westrockhilltownship.org.
