Triplets are not so rare these days, but two hundred years ago or more, the chances of all three living were rare.

The Kile triplets, born in 1812 in Rockhill township got some mentions in the paper as they lived into their 70s and 80s.

The three boys, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (in that order) were 3 of the 12 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Kile.

When Mrs. Kile died in 1885 at the age of 98, the triplets were declared orphans. Because of the family’s longevity, the story about Mrs. Kile’s passing was picked up by many newspapers in the U.S., and even as far away as New Zealand.

Jacob, a Civil War veteran, died in 1894 at the age of 82. Isaac passed away in 1897, aged 85 and Abraham in 1900 at age 87. Another brother, Tobias, lived to be 99.

The family rests at the Flatland Mennonite Cemetery in Quakertown.
