The newest member of Towamencin’s leadership is now on board, just in time for budget season.

The township’s supervisors voted unanimously in a special meeting Tuesday afternoon to appoint Eric Reinbott to be the township’s new finance director.

“Eric’s background in business and operations spans both the public and private sectors,” said board Chairman Chuck Wilson.

Reinbott becomes the township’s fourth finance director since late 2018, when longtime director Maureen Doyle passed away after an extended illness. The role was then filled by Brooke Neve from January 2019 through February 2022, then Adam Szumski from June 2022 through June 2024, when Szumski left Towamencin to take a similar post in Lower Merion Township, whose finance director had left to become the manager of Whitpain Township.

Major finance-related discussions in Towamencin in recent years have centered around the township’s long-running sewer sale saga, where the supervisors voted to sell the municipal sewer system in spring 2022, residents have since passed a home rule charter they argue makes the sale illegal, and the board has since approved a sewer rate increase to help pay down projected sewer infrastructure projects, as legal challenges to the sale continue.

In a brief special meeting on Tuesday, Wilson read a brief biography of Reinbott, detailing his prior role for nine years as operations manager for Bucks County’s Department of Corrections.

“He oversees the department’s staff, finances and operations, including the annual departmental operating and capital budgets totaling over $42 million,” Wilson said.

Prior roles for Reinbott included as director of finance and administration and accounting assistant, and before working for Bucks County he worked as a partner and general manager at his family’s restaurant, Wilson added; Reinbott brings a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lock Haven University and a master’s in business administration from Wilmington University. After the bio, supervisor Kofi Osei made a motion appointing Reinbott, supervisor Laura Smith seconded, and all three approved.

The township’s fall 2024 budget workshop schedule has not yet been finalized, Wilson said afterward, but staff and the supervisors intend to stream as many meetings online as possible to maximize public participation.

Towamencin’s supervisors next meet at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the township administration building, 1090 Troxel Road. For more information visit www.Towamencin.org.
