For three days, skywatchers locally - and worldwide - marveled at the night sky as a rare event occurred when the Perseid meteor shower coincided with the Northern Lights, or Aurora borealis.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center issued a geomagnetic storm watch for Friday through Sunday.

The conditions were perfect, and at the right hours, with the right camera settings, the Northern Lights were captured in some readers' lens.
