Two long-time neighbors, Harleysville Materials Quarry and Living Hope Farm, have joined forces to support their shared vision of addressing food insecurity in the local community.
Living Hope Farm, a nonprofit community supported agriculture (CSA) farm, has been serving the Harleysville community for over a decade. The farm provides weekly shares of organically grown produce to its members and offers educational opportunities and community-building events.
Harleysville Materials Quarry, located across the street from the farm, is part of the Mount Group. The Mount Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Mount Group, focuses on alleviating food insecurity and supporting other community priorities in the locations where their employees live and work, said a joint press release from the organizations.
Living Hope Farm’s Farm to Family program provides free weekly shares of fresh produce to families accessing local food banks. This program is unique in allowing families to choose the size of their share and select their preferred produce each week, providing dignity and choice to all participants. This fresh vegetable share complements the dry goods typically available at food pantries.
Through this new partnership, Harleysville Materials will support Living Hope Farm in expanding the Farm to Family program over the next five years. Additionally, Harleysville Materials Quarry will contribute to the farm’s maintenance and improvement by donating stone and other materials.
“At Living Hope Farm, we are driven by our mission to provide fresh, healthy food to those in need,” said Jessica Geyer, Farm Administrator at Living Hope Farm. “This collaboration with Harleysville Materials Quarry and The Mount Charitable Foundation enables us to extend our reach and bring the full benefits of CSA membership to even more families in our community.”

This collaboration reflects a strong commitment to community welfare and exemplifies how local organizations can work together to make a positive impact, said the release.
