The Cannoneers Club’s Burger Fundraiser for Fairmount Fire Co. on Saturday raised more than their anticipated goal, making it a success for another community partnership.
Within the first 90 minutes of the event, Cannoneers Club reached their fundraising goal. Burgers and associated sides were sold at $10 pre-pay or $12 day-of.
“Everything from there was extra,” said Fairmount Fire Chief Gavin Butler.
"With this being our first burger fundraiser, our goal was to sell 100 burgers and we sold around 200," he said. "We ultimately raised around $2,600 through a combination of burger sales, raffles, and donations. The funds will go towards departmental training and equipment purchases.".
Fairmount Fire Co. is welcoming volunteers into its organization right now. If you are 16 years of age or older, sign up to be a new member today. The fire company members meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the fire station.
Since 1889, Fairmount Fire Co. has been the emergency provider for Lansdale Borough and an assistant in emergency incidents in surrounding towns.
The department is entirely volunteer.

"Cannoneers was awesome and we’re so thankful of their support, along with the community. Cannoneers donated all the food and (non-alcoholic) drinks for the event and we couldn’t be more grateful," Butler said, adding that bar manager Ricky Palmerio was extremely helpful and supportive.
"The entire staff, the patrons, everyone was awesome, as always," Butler said. "We're hopeful and excited to do a similar event there as soon as this winter."
