In preparation for the 2024-2025 school year, the North Penn School District (NPSD) Transportation Department is holding their annual K-Day program to educate students and families about riding the bus to school. Sessions will be held August 6, 8, 13, and 15, at both 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM at North Penn High School (1340 Valley Forge Road, Lansdale) beginning in the auditorium.

The program is designed to ease the anxiety felt by students and parents who are first-timers on the school bus and to educate families about bus safety. Participants will hear from NPSD bus drivers about school bus facts and safety, then have the opportunity to take a ride around the neighborhood on a school bus. The program will wrap up with a safety video and education regarding the “danger zone” around the bus when loading and unloading.

This program is intended for NPSD students entering kindergarten or first grade only. All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Siblings are not permitted to attend. The program begins and buses will depart promptly at the start time of each session. Students are asked to practice being on time for the bus stop and arrive promptly for K-Day. Registration is not required to attend.

Participation in the K-Day program is voluntary and does not preclude the safety training that occurs in all 13 of the district’s elementary schools each fall.
