The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Senior Services is pleased to announce the approval of new members to the Senior Services Advisory Council. This dedicated group of individuals will play a vital role in shaping policies and programs that impact the well-being of older residents in Montgomery County.
The Advisory Council is comprised of community leaders, advocates, and professionals passionate about enhancing the quality of life for older adults. The Council's primary mission is to advise the Office of Senior Services on the annual plan, advocate for the needs and rights of older persons, and maintain a well-informed stance on elder issues.
"We are excited to welcome our new Senior Services Advisory Council members, whose diverse professional backgrounds and community involvement will bring fresh perspectives to the County’s ongoing efforts to make Montgomery County a great place to live, retire, and grow older," Jamila H. Winder, chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. "Their commitment and feedback will be invaluable as we work together to address the challenges and opportunities facing our aging community."
“Montgomery County, like the rest of the Commonwealth, is getting older, so it’s increasingly important for us to make decisions and implement policies that support our seniors now, while building sustainable services for all residents as they age within the County,” said Montgomery County Commissioner Neil Makhija. “Our new members to the Advisory Council have expertise in healthcare, older adult services, and mental health, which will provide useful insight as we continue to improve services for the County’s older adults.”

The Advisory Council will meet regularly to discuss key issues, review current programs, and provide recommendations to the Office of Senior Services. By staying informed on elder issues and advocating for the rights and needs of older adults, the Council will help ensure that Montgomery County remains a supportive and inclusive community for all its residents.
