A motorcyclist who fled the scene after a two-motorcycle crash on the 2000 block of Bethlehem Pike near Bergey Road Saturday night had yet to be identified by police Sunday evening, according to Hatfield Township Police.
Police said an investigation is ongoing.
On Saturday at 9:52 p.m., Hatfield Police responded to the area of Bethlehem Pike and Bergey Road for a report of a motorcycle crash. While en route, officers were told a woman was lying on the ground, but conscious and alert, police said.
The woman suffered serious injuries, police said. Bucks County ambulance responded to the scene for treatment of injuries, police said, and she was taken to an area hospital.
Witnesses told police that the injured woman was the rider on a black motorcycle that had been traveling south on Bethlehem Pike, police said. The driver lost control near Bergey Road, and witnesses told police the driver fled the scene on foot prior to police and EMS arrival, according to reports.
Montgomery Township K-9 unit assisted at the scene. Police said the scent was lost fairly early in the track and it is unknown if the suspect was picked up by someone or continued escaping on foot.
Southbound Route 309 was closed at Bergey Road briefly while police processed the scene.
