Mark your calendars and join us for this interactive workshop that transports you back to the 1700s. During this workshop, you will learn:
- The general process of making beer in 1770 and how to make good beer with no instrumentation, just using your basic senses.
- The vital role the tavern had in daily life and ultimately in fomenting rebellion in Colonial America.
- Why beer was so critical to everyday life in the 18th Century. Everyone (even children) drank beer and it was ORDERED to be issued to soldiers.
- How beer shaped our local pre-revolutionary Pennsylvania economy, from the settlement at Plymouth to the expulsion of Blackbeard to the Whiskey Rebellion.
- How most people made three batches of beer (parti-gyyle, hoffbrau, and small beer) from the same set of ingredients to save money.
