Acid spill at Welsh and 202 causes HAZMAT incident Thursday afternoon

A two-vehicle accident caused a hazardous materials spill and closed the intersection of Welsh Road and the Route 202 Parkway in Montgomery Township Thursday afternoon.

According to reports from the scene, a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck collided with a Sabino’s Pool Plastering Ford heavy duty truck at the intersection at 1:21 p.m.

The collision caused a 55-gallon drum of acid to spill on the roadway from the truck’s cargo, per reports.

There are no reported injuries.

Montgomery Township Police and Fire Department of Montgomery Township are on scene, along with assistance from Colmar Fire Police and other area companies. Lower Gwynedd Police also assisted with traffic.
