Kevin Tyrone Johnson, 37, of Norristown, allegedly sold $100 of drugs to an Oberlin Terrace resident, police said
A Norristown man was arrested March 21 for allegedly selling crack cocaine in Towamencin Township, as well as for an outstanding felony drug warrant issued earlier in the day, according to court records.
Kevin Tyrone Johnson, 37, was recently arraigned on two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute, felony counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited and concealed carry without a license, two misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to charging documents.
Investigators with the Montgomery County Detective Bureau said Johnson was wanted on a felony warrant that had been issued earlier that day, when they observed him allegedly selling $100 worth of crack-cocaine to a resident of Oberlin Terrace. He was arrested as he was getting into his vehicle, and a search warrant on the vehicle — which Johnson said he was borrowing — uncovered a quarter pound of crack-cocaine, a bag of methamphetamine pills, drug paraphernalia and a 9mm handgun, according to charging documents.
The complaint notes that the vehicle was known to police and had been involved in drug activity in West Norriton and Norristown prior to Johnson’s arrest. The report adds that Johnson was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to prior criminal convictions.
A preliminary hearing is set before Magisterial District Judge Edward Levine on April 24.
Johnson remains in Montgomery County jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail in the Towamencin case, as well as $250,000 cash bail stemming from similar charges out of West Norriton Township.
