A Bucks County man is facing up to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to his role in a February 2023 road rage incident that led to one victim being run over by a van.

Court record show 28-year-old Edward Sandy, of Telford, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to felony counts of aggravated assault by vehicle and accidents involving death or injury while not licensed, as well as a misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence and a summary count of driving without a license, as part of a plea agreement with Bucks County prosecutors. Additional charges of aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving, were dropped in exchange for his plea.

Hilltown Police responded to a road rage incident at the Hilltown Plaza Shopping Center near the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Route 113 on Feb. 7, 2023. Police said Sandy and another person were involved in an incident, and when the other driver exited their vehicle, Sandy hit the driver with his van, drove over them, then fled the scene down County Line Road.

Sandy was later identified as a suspect after Hilltown Police issued a call for public assistance, which resulted in a tip that led them to the location of the striking vehicle in Sellersville. He was taken into custody on July 21, 2023, and he has remained free on 10% of $20,000 cash bail since that time.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for April 24 at 9 a.m. in front of Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Charissa Liller. Sandy faces up to seven years in prison on the felony charges.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
