Montgomery County will soon be getting a Community Health Assessment, as announced Thursday at the county commissioners session, according to WFMZ.
Office of Public Health Administrator Christina Miller told commissioners the health check-up is necessary to "describe the health of the community.” She said in the article that the County is interested in the factors that contribute to overall health and wellness, as well as health needs.
"The team has been planning since last summer,” Miller said in the article.
The team consists of a Steering Committee, which will start this spring with community surveys and focus groups.
Per the report, the assessment will focus on "inequities experienced among subpopulations” in the county. Furthermore, the CHA will compile community assets and other resources dedicated to health and wellness of the county’s citizens.
At present, a Community Health Assessment, per the article, is necessary for health department accreditation.
Every three years, according to Miller, the health assessment is undertaken. Once an assessment is completed, then the process moves on to prioritization. Then, initiatives are planned, implemented, and monitored, per the report.
The CHA also looks at quality of life and community stories, she said.
At the end of the assessment, the county will institute a new community health improvement plan, per the article.
