A Montgomery County jury has found a Quakertown man guilty on a pair of charges steaming from a 2022 sex assault investigation by the Lansdale Borough Police Department.
Edison Guerrero Tejada, 34, was found guilty on Wednesday of felony corruption of minors and misdemeanor indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, following a three-day jury trial at county court. Sentencing was deferred to allow for a pre-sentencing investigation, court records show.
Guerrero Tejada faces up to seven years in state prison on the felony corruption of minors charge.
The investigation began in January 2022, after police received a Childline referral regarding a 13-year-old female who disclosed to her school counselor that Guerrero Tejada had inappropriate physical contact with her on multiple occasions. Police interviewed the victim several days later, at which point she said Guerrero Tejada had inappropriately touched her while giving massages dating back to when she was 12, according to charging documents.
During the most recent incident, the victim said she went out of her way to avoid him, at which point he attempted to apologize, the report states. Guerrero Tejada then tried to call the victim, however she did not answer him, police said.
“Edison Javier Guerrero Tejada engaged in a course of conduct initiated by his own sexual desire, without concern for age and consent,” reads a portion of the criminal complaint.
Police said Guerrero Tejada was known to the victim, meaning the incidents were not random.
Charges were filed against Guerrero Tejada on March 24, 2022, and he was taken into custody and arraigned by District Judge Francis Lawrence Jr., who set bail at $250,000 cash. A bail review hearing was subsequently held on April 5, 2022, at which point Guerrero Tejada’s bail was reduced to 10% of $50,000 cash, which he posted two days later, court records show.
Guerrero Tejada remains free on bail as he awaits sentencing, according to court documents.
