MontcoWorks to Host Career Connections Fair on Thursday Afternoon

(The following information was provided by the Montgomery County Office of Communications.)

MontcoWorks, Montgomery County’s local workforce development board, will host the PA CareerLink® Montgomery County Career Connections Fair on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Health Sciences Center at Montgomery County Community College, 340 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell.

The Career Connections Fair is a unique job fair that will connect employers to career seekers who are ready to work. There is no cost for employers, community-based organizations, and career seekers to participate.

"We are excited to host our first annual Career Connections Fair,” said Craig Cuthbert, PA CareerLink® Montgomery County Operator. “This is an opportunity to connect career seekers not only to employers with open jobs but also to services and supports that can help ensure their success.”

The team at PA CareerLink® Montgomery County has been working to help prepare career seekers for success through workshops and one-on-one support. So far, over 100 career seekers have registered to attend the Career Connections Fair.

Employers and Organizations

Both employers and community-based organizations serving career seekers are invited to register to reserve a booth for the event. Registration will remain open until September 13 as long as tables remain available.

Career Seekers

Interested career seekers can register here. When registering, career seekers are encouraged to include what types of positions they are looking for, to help MontcoWorks better facilitate connections. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

Career seekers who have been having difficulty connecting to employment in the past are encouraged to attend.

The event will be one of many occurring in early September to promote PA CareerLink® statewide as a go-to resource connecting employers and career seekers through a range of available services.

MontcoWorks administers services for both career seekers and employers through PA CareerLink® Montgomery County. Career seekers services include job readiness and job search instruction, career coaching, training support, and access to open positions through PA CareerLink® Online. Employers can post their open positions but also connect to business services for recruitment support and access to wage reimbursement while onboarding eligible candidates.

“Our goal is to make sure that every county resident who is looking for work can connect to a career with a sustainable wage and that every employer who needs a skilled workforce to thrive can receive the support they need here in Montgomery County," said Jennifer Butler, Executive Director of MontcoWorks.

Employers, organizations, and career seekers who want to learn more about this unique job fair can visit the events page of the MontcoWorks website or contact Melinda Onchitta, project coordinator, at [email protected].
