A Sellersville man is in custody at the Bucks County Correctional Facility after he allegedly attacked his roommate with a knife and a machete following an argument at their apartment early Saturday morning.
Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Ridge Avenue in Sellersville Borough at 8:06 a.m. on Sept. 9 for a report of an assault victim. Arriving police located a male victim with numerous cuts and stab wounds to his face, back, arms, forearms, hands, and fingers, with some of the wounds appearing to be severe, deep, life-threatening wounds, police said.
The victim had wounds to his forearms and hands that were consistent with defensive wounds, according to charging documents.
The victim told police that sometime after midnight he got into an argument with his roommate, identified as 25-year-old Isaiah Velazquez. Following the argument, Velazquez allegedly went into his bedroom, retrieved a knife and a machete, then attacked the victim in the bathroom, police said. The victim stated he was able to remove Velazquez from the bathroom, at which point Velazquez returned to his bedroom while the victim remained wounded in the bathroom, according to the criminal complaint.
The victim eventually made his way to his bedroom, where he passed out, police said. Upon awakening, he was able to get out of the apartment and alert a neighbor, who called 911, according to police.
Police on scene quoted the victim as saying, “He tried killing me,” and the complaint states that Velazquez was located sitting on the floor of his bedroom with a machete nearby on the floor. Investigators said a large amount of blood was observed on the floor of the bathroom, as well as a blood trail from the bathroom to the victim’s bedroom, where a large amount of blood was also found on the victim’s bed.
Velazquez was subsequently taken into custody.
As a result of the incident, Velazquez has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault with extreme indifference, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and related offenses. He was arraigned Saturday afternoon by Magisterial District Judge Corryn L. Kronnagel, who set bail at $1 Million cash.
His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using police reports, court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
