Shaykh Anwar Muhammad was reappointed as president of the Ambler branch of the NAACP, officials said last week.
The reappointment was made official on Aug. 17, according to a statement from the NAACP’s Ambler branch. Muhammad owns The Black Reserve Bookstore in downtown Lansdale. He graduated from Millersville University with a bachelor’s degree in communications, specializing in public relations. Muhammad has counseled, mentored and worked with adjudicated youth in Pennsylvania.
“Shaykh Muhammad’s reappointment comes with the endorsement of his profound knowledge, extensive experiences, and expertise in community development, social change, and advocacy,” a spokesperson for the NAACP’s Ambler branch said in a statement. “His commitment to amplifying the voices of the marginalized and driving positive transformation is emblematic of his dedication to being a part of solutions rather than problems.”
The NAACP was created in 1909 and still stands as the Nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. The Ambler branch welcomes new members to affect change in our region. Interested residents can contact the organization via “The Ambler Branch of the NAACP serving NPSD, UDSD, and WSD” page on Facebook or via email at [email protected].
