The OfficeMax location at Water Tower Shopping Center in Montgomery Township is closing for good, as parent company Office Depot looks to close or consolidate an unspecified number of stores by the end of the year as part of a restructuring plan.
According to Newsbreak, the restructuring plan announced in 2020 saw a total of 263 Office Depot stores close by the end of 2021.
Office Depot has been affected by the work-from-home shift away from office life, which has greatly impacted the need for office supplies, per the report.
The Montgomeryville location is in the midst of a clearance sale, with most items marked at 60% off or less.
OfficeMax merged with Office Depot in 2013. Staples previously tried to buy the chain but the company’s offer was denied in June 2022, according to The Sun.
Office Depot was contacted for comment, but did not respond by press time.
