Healthy food aficionados now have another area option as Main Street Salad has officially opened their doors in Harleysville.
The shop, which opened on Oct. 10 inside the Harley Commons Shopping Center, is owned by Sara Arnhold and her husband, who moved to Lower Salford in 2018. Arnhold was working as an auto damager adjuster at the time, and she said while she enjoyed her career, she never felt like she was doing something fulfilling or rewarding.
"As my husband and I prioritized what would make sense for our family, we decided to go at this whole heartedly,” Arnhold said. "We wanted to create something that there was a need for, and that would make families happy.”
Arnhold said culinary background runs through her family, and between the manager, executive chef, and another chef at Main Street Salad, the newly launched eatery carries more than 100 years of combined culinary experience.
"I was extremely lucky to find all three of them at the perfect time to complete my vision to bring absolutely fresh and exciting ingredients to the restaurant,” Arnhold said.
Main Street Salad offers a variety of food options including salads, sandwiches, wraps, and soups. In the early goings, their Sweet Autumn Salad — consisting of a super-green blend paired with seared chicken, sliced apple, julienne carrots, feta cheese, craisins, candied pecans, and butternut squash — has become the go-to offering for customers, with their smoked turnkey cheddar and bacon panini quickly becoming a favorite on the sandwich side.
"The response has been outstanding,” Arnhold said. "I see reviews on Facebookand Googleand everything is heartfelt, supportive, and that is why I am so grateful to be a part of my community.”
As of the time of publishing, Main Street Salad carries a perfect five-out-of-five rating on both platforms.
The restaurant currently does not offer delivery options, but they are working on an online platform and website to allow for online ordering. Current orders are being made in-person or via phone at 267-427-3279.
A Grand Opening celebration for Main Street Salad has been scheduled for Nov. 4, which will include live music, free samples, giveaways, and discounted menu items. Arnhold also said they’ll always be accepting applications, as they will need staff as they grow and expand.
"I would like to thank everyone who has stuck by us and supported us through the process of opening. Without that continued support, we may not have had the great response from the community as everyone patiently waited to hear when we would finally open,” Arnhold said. "We strive to make sure our ingredients are fresh, and that when you order from us, you feel like what you've paid for was worth it!”
