A Lansdale woman who is on probation for punching a medic, spitting on police, and shouting racial slurs has been arrested again after she allegedly assaulted multiple police officers following an incident on North Broad Street Tuesday afternoon.
Danielle Ferry, 37, has been charged with one felony count of aggravated assault against designated individuals, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, and a summary count of public drunkenness, stemming from the Oct. 17 incident in Lansdale Borough.
Ferry is in custody at the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail along with a probation detainer.
Police were dispatched to the Choice Mini Mart and Smoke Shop along the 200 block of North Broad Street at 2:54 p.m. for a report of a female creating a disturbance. An employee told dispatchers that a female — later identified as Ferry — would not leave and was attempting to break the store’s front door, according to charging documents.
Arriving police made contact with Ferry, whom they described as being visibly intoxicated with glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol, and struggling to sit up. Ferry immediately became combative, police said, who quoted her as saying she was having a "bad day” and added she began to stagger away when they attempted to arrest her for public drunkenness.
Police said Ferry resisted arrest, lowered her body to the ground as they attempted to place her into a patrol vehicle, and they had to lift her and move her into the back seat. Once transported to the police station, Ferry then began kicking the inside door of the vehicle, yelled, and became aggressive towards police, according to the criminal complaint.
As police were attempting to remove Ferry from the vehicle, she was able to free her left hand from the handcuffs and began punching one officer who was attempting to remove her seatbelt, police said. Ferry then kicked the same officer in the leg and punched a second officer in the chest while continuing to yell at the first officer, the report states.
Once outside of the vehicle, Ferry continued to resist arrest, dropping her body to the ground and flailing her arms, according to police. She also spit in the face of one officer, and attempted to grab their groin, the report states.
Ferry was eventually placed into a holding cell, police said, and she was arraigned Wednesday morning by Magisterial District Judge R. Emmett Madden, who set bail at $1,000 cash. Her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.
As previously reported by North Penn Now, Ferry was arrested in February 2021 after she punched a medic in the face, spit in the face of a police officer, used a racial slur against another officer, and insinuated that she had Covid following a domestic incident in Lansdale Borough.
The incident provoked a response from a local Black Lives Matter activist as well as a pair of borough businesses, who showed their support for the officer and Lansdale Police in the wake of the incident.
Court records show Ferry pleaded guilty to the felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor terroristic threat charges in January, and Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Steven O’Neill sentenced her to five years’ probation.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
