Bethlehem Pike Shutdown After Dump Truck Pulls Down Wires in Lower Gwynedd

A portion of Bethlehem Pike has been shutdown in Lower Gwynedd Township after a dump truck struck and pulled down power lines early Tuesday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched to the scene at 1:32 p.m. for a report of a vehicle accident on North Bethlehem Pike near the intersection with Fair Land Drive. Arriving crews found a dump truck had struck and pulled down power lines, which were lying on the roadway as well as the truck itself.

Bethlehem Pike is currently closed between Cedar Hill Road and the Route 309 expressway as crews work to clear the scene. The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety said the road is expected to be closed for an extended period of time.

No injuries have been reported.

Lower Gwynedd Police are being assisted at the scene by units from Wissahickon and North Penn fire companies.

The scene remains active at this time, and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
