On Thursday, Senator Maria Collett joined Representative Steve Malagari, Lansdale Borough officials and North Penn YMCA leadership to break ground on a new gymnasium at the Lansdale Area Family YMCA.
“The Lansdale YMCA is a lifeline for local families, and this new gymnasium is a welcomed addition,” said Collett. “I was proud to work with Representative Malagari to secure $2.5 million in state grant funding to support the project, and I’m excited for our neighbors to have this new space to stay active, build community and make lasting memories.”
The gymnasium will provide space for basketball, tennis, floor hockey, badminton, pickleball and much more. Construction is slated to begin in the spring of 2024 with an intended grand opening in January 2025.
State funding for the project was secured through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
