PFLAG Souderton-North Penn is hosting a family-friendly community picnic on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Beck Pavilion at Fischer’s Park in Towamencin. People who are LGBTQ+, families and allies in the North Penn Valley are invited to join — and bring a dish, game, or activity to share. This fun, family event will happen rain or shine and will include snacks, music, kids’ activities, and more.
"Many folks want to be allies and show support for LGBTQ+ people but are unsure on how to take that next step, that is where PFLAG steps in," said Christine Coyne, PFLAG Souderton-North Penn Secretary.
The local PFLAG board members, who all have family in the LGBTQ community — in particular the trans community — all found PFLAG in search of wanting more education, support, and mutual allyship.
National Coming Out Day is Oct. 11.
"Whether you have been an out and affirming LGBTQ+ ally for years, or this is your first time, we hope you'll come out this Sunday,” Coyne said. “Let's join together in love and acceptance."
About PFLAG
PFLAG is an organization of LGBTQ+ people, parents, families, and allies who work together to create an equitable and inclusive world. We are hundreds of thousands of people and hundreds of chapters from coast to coast who are leading with love to support families, educate allies, and advocate for just, equitable, and inclusive legislation and policies. Since our founding in 1973, PFLAG works every day to ensure LGBTQ+ people everywhere are safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved. Learn more, find support, donate, and take action at PFLAG.org.
In the North Penn Valley, LGBTQ+ people and those who love them are served by PFLAG Souderton-North Penn (previously known as PFLAG Kulpsville). This chapter was started in 2017 to serve the North Penn Valley between the Bucks County and Royersford PFLAG chapters. Connect with PFLAG Souderton-North Penn on Facebook, Instagram, website via LinkTree or by email at [email protected].
