A Sellersville man has been charged with felony retail theft after allegedly stealing more than $1,000 in groceries from the Giant Food Store on Route 113 in Hilltown Township.
Police said 32-year-old Cody Long was observed on surveillance video entering the store at 7:07 p.m. on July 21, at which point he allegedly placed 86 items into a shopping cart over a one-hour period then exited the store without paying. The total value of the merchandise was $1,063.07, according to charging documents.
Long was allegedly observed by store security returning to the store at 1:33 p.m. on Aug. 14, at which point police were called to the scene and he was taken into custody for the July 21 theft, police said.
Charges were initially filed against Long on Sept. 19, however he was not arraigned on the charges until Nov. 29. Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage set bail at $5,000 unsecured, and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 16, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge Armitage.
