A New Jersey man is facing charges after he allegedly stole more than $350 worth of energy drinks from the Hilltown Walmart.
Police were initially called to the 1500 block of Bethlehem Pike at 6:50 p.m. on July 5 for a report of a retail theft that occurred the prior day. Investigators said a man — later identified as 61-year-old Samuel Holladay, of Woodstown — entered the store, filled a cart with energy drinks, provided a false receipt to a door host, and then exited without paying.
The total value of the energy drinks was $368.84, police said.
Personnel with Walmart’s loss prevention department said Holladay had previously been flagged as a repeat retail theft suspect with several known contacts across other store locations, according to charging documents. He also has several prior retail theft convictions in New Jersey, making the grading for the current charges a felony, police said.
Charges were filed against Holladay on Aug. 11, however he wasn’t taken into custody until Nov. 15, when he was arraigned and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Jan. 16 at 1:45 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
