Man Charged with Theft of Services After Failing to Pay Auto Repair Bill in Hilltown, Police Say

A Franconia Township man is facing charges after he allegedly failed to pay an auto repair bill at a shop in Hilltown Township.

Hector Alvarado Delcid, 34, has been charged with one misdemeanor count of theft of services, stemming from the investigation by the Hilltown Township Police Department. Charges were filed via summons, meaning Alvarado has not been arraigned yet.

The investigation began on Oct. 12, when police received a complaint from an employee at Souderton Truck Center on Bethlehem Pike regarding an open bill for services that had not been paid, police said. The services were completed on Alvarado’s vehicle on Aug. 1, however he had not rendered payment for the services and failed to respond to multiple attempts to make contact from the shop, according to charging documents.

The outstanding balance for the repairs was $1,744.28, police said.

Investigators made several attempts to contact Alvarado to remedy the issue, with Alvarado stating he intended to pay it and at other times ignoring the calls, the report states. After he failed to meet a Nov. 1 deadline to pay, police filed criminal charges, court documents show.

A preliminary hearing on the issue has been scheduled for Jan. 9, 2024, at 2:45 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage. If convicted on the charge, Alvarado faces a maximum of five years in state prison along with a fine of up to $10,000.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
