A Telford woman is facing charges after she allegedly entered a residential garage and stole cash and personal items while knocking over a pair of motorcycles and trashing the interior of the garage.
Heather Reigner, 44, has been charged with felony counts of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property, as well as a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief, in connection with the July 3 incident. She is currently free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Police were initially called to the garage, located along the 300 block of Ninth Street, at 10:36 a.m. on July 4 for a report of a burglary. The location was described as a garage with an attached room and a second-floor space, however it was not adapted for overnight accommodations.
Upon entry, police observed two motorcycles that were lying on their sides as well as tables that had been knocked over and clothing, trash, bottles, and food strewn across the floor. A clothing pile on a recliner was also found to have apparent urine dumped on it, according to the criminal complaint.
A flatscreen television was found to have a broken screen, and a wall-mounted safe had been opened and only an empty money envelope was found inside, police said.
The victim told police he had been at the garage on July 3 and there was nothing out of order. They said the building doesn’t have plumbing, so they urinate in bottles which are stored until they dispose of them. They additionally told police they were missing a backpack with clothing, motorcycle boots, and $2,200 in cash from the safe.
The complaint quotes the victim as saying they believed Reigner was responsible for the burglary, alleging she had sent him a text shortly before midnight saying "wait until you see your shop.” The victim also told police Reigner knew how to gain access to the garage, according to charging documents.
Reigner was later interviewed by police, at which time she admitted to entering the garage, throwing food, trash, and items on the floor, pushing over the motorcycles, and pouring urine on the victim’s clothing, police said. She also admitted to taking the backpack and boots, however she denied taking any money from the safe or garage, according to the complaint.
Charges were officially filed against Reigner on Oct. 31, and court records show she was arraigned on Nov. 8. Her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Dec. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
