Montgomery Township Police have released some of the details from the fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Tuesday evening at the intersection of County Line and Doylestown roads.
Police were dispatched to the scene at 5:24 p.m. for a report of a multi-vehicle crash involving three vehicles. Arriving crews identified the involved vehicles as a 1983 Honda motorcycle, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra, and a 2012 Nissan juke.
According to Montgomery Township Police Lt. Gerry Dougherty, a preliminary investigation into the crash revealed the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on County Line Road through the intersection when the Hyundai attempted to make a left turn onto Doylestown Road from the left-turn lane on westbound County Line Road. The motorcycle struck the rear passenger-side of the Hyundai as it turned in front of it, then continued and struck the front of the Nissan, police said.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as a 33-year-old male from Doylestown, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The drivers of the Hyundai and Nissan, identified as a 36-year-old male from Lansdale and a 59-year-old woman from Blue Bell, were uninjured.
The operator of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police worked to investigate and process the scene. The crash remains under investigation, Dougherty said.
Montgomery Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from the North Penn Crash Team, New Britain Township Police Department, VMSC Emergency Medical Services, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Colmar Fire Company, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, and fire police from several neighboring fire companies.
