The death of an inmate from the Bucks County Correctional Facility is under investigation, according to county officials.

Authorities reported that the inmate, a male in his 30s, was pronounced dead on Monday at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

The inmate was transported to the hospital on Sunday from the county jail in Doylestown Township due to a "medical incident.” The details of which have not been disclosed, according to a county statement.

The investigation is being jointly conducted by the Bucks County Detectives and the Bucks County Department of Corrections Investigations Unit. They are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

There were two inmate deaths earlier this year.

According to Pennsylvania Department of Correction’s extraordinary occurrence statistics and Levittown Now’s tally dating back to 2015, Bucks County has reported seven inmate suicides, one homicide, and eight medical-related or accidental deaths at the correctional facility.
