A Philadelphia sports journalism legend made his way to Hatfield Township on Thursday to record a new episode of his "What’s Brewing” television series.

WIP’s Glen Macnow arrived at Imprint Beer Co. on Thursday morning to meet with co-owner Ryan Diehl and state Rep. Steve Malagari — who serves on Pa.’s House Liquor Control Committee — for an episode that is set to debut on NBC Sports Philadelphia as part of the series’ eighth season.

"We wanted to film an episode with Steve and Ryan about challenges that breweries have in dealing with the state and ways to make that easier,” Macnow said.

The episode is one in a recent string of visits to breweries across the North Penn area, which included stops at Well Crafted Beer Co. and Round House in Lansdale Borough. Previous episodes have also included visits to Ten7 Brewing Co. and McAllister Brewing Co. in North Wales.

"I will tell you their brown ale was memorably good to me. I love their brown ale,” Macnow said, regarding his visit previous visit to McAllister. "Those are all good breweries that make really good products. They’ve always been very receptive to us, and they’re great places to film a show.”

Macnow said Imprint Beer was one of his personal favorites, specifically singling out one of their extra-special bitter (ESB) beers.

"I’m amazed at the scope and quality of Imprint’s beers,” Macnow said. "My favorite beer here is an ESB that they do. There’s not a lot of places that do an ESB. It’s a nice, malty, British-style ale, and I would drive from my house to here just for that beer.”

The series has filmed more than 100 episodes to date at breweries across the state, but Macnow said Montgomery County has hosted more episodes than any other county.

"Montgomery County has a lot of great breweries, and we like to visit them all,” Macnow said.

The Imprint episode will debut on Dec. 2 at 11 p.m. on NBC Sports Philadelphia, and will repeat several additional times in the week that follows. Past episodes can be viewed on their YouTube channel.

Macnow was inducted into the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 and has been a regular voice on Sports Radio WIP for more than 30 years. Prior to becoming a sports radio legend in Philadelphia, Macnow worked at the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he was named as "The best Sportswriter in Philadelphia” in 1993 by Philadelphia Magazine, and he has since authored or co-authored more than a dozen books, including The Great Philadelphia Fan Book, The Great Philadelphia Sports Debate, and The Great Book of Philadelphia Sports Lists.

He also made his way into the Montgomery County craft brewing scene in 2013 when he became an investor in the then-startup Conshohocken Brewing Company.
