Variety to Host Annual Holiday Lane with Lights, Entertainment, and Kids Activities

Variety – the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley(Variety) will once again be spreading joy this holiday season through Variety’s Holiday Lane. From Nov. 30 through Dec. 2, Variety will transform its 77-acre campus into an interactive, family-friendly, winter wonderland.

This exciting multi-night event includes fun for the whole family with themed decorated cabins, a holiday craft bazaar, live entertainment, strolling characters, complimentary hot cocoa, various children’s activities, hot food, a warm bonfire, and festive outdoor decorations. The event’s festivities sponsor is Allan Myers, and the holly sponsors are Caritas Construction and Merck.

"It is so wonderful to be able to open our campus to the public and spread joy during the holiday season,” said Dominique Bernardo, CEO of Variety – the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley. "Holiday Lane supports all of our programming from Summer Day Camp and Vocational Programs to Extended School and our innovative workforce development program VarietyWorks.”

Visitors can walk or drive along a festive Holiday Lane in which the exterior of the organization’s rustic cabins will be lit up with holiday lights and decorated in holiday themes by Variety local community groups who will compete for the votes of the public who attend the event. Groups this year include Merck, Keller Williams, Syngenius Inc., What’s Bugging You Pest Control, plus other amazing community partners! Guests will enjoy live entertainment from local groups including Methacton Community Theater, Dancing on Eire, Coyle Irish Dance, and many more. It is these types of collaborations that continue to fuel Variety’s long-term sustainability. 

Admission tickets include walking the lane, a complimentary cup of hot chocolate, live entertainment, and a visit with Santa. Additional activities include hot food, cider, kids’ games, s’mores, amazing raffle baskets, and a holiday bazaar of handmade items by Variety kids. Elmwood Park Zoo will offer their Zoo on Wheels, there will be a visit by the Phillies Phanatic and other special guests throughout the event! 

On Saturday, Dec. 2, there will be special children’s activities from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., including a carol sing along, holiday dance party, story time stations, letters to Santa, a scavenger hunt/ hayride, and more.

The event is a wonderful, family-friendly opportunity to visit Variety’s campus and enjoy the sights and sounds of the season while supporting a local organization that strives to continuously provide social and educational programs for the disabilities community in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties.

Dates and times are as follows:

  • Thursday, Nov. 30: Driving tour only (enjoy the lights and a cup of hot cocoa), 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., $10 car and $20 van and busses
  • Friday, Dec. 1:  Walking tours, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., $10 adults and $5 children
  • Saturday, Dec. 2: Walking tours, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., $10 adults and $5 children, special children’s activities from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
