A man was arrested at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon following a crash at the intersection of Allentown and Valley Forge roads in Upper Gwynedd Township.
Police from multiple jurisdictions were dispatched to the scene at 5:34 p.m. on Oct. 31 for a report of a vehicle crash and shooting. Arriving police held the parties involved in the incident at gunpoint due to the call of a shooting, however it was quickly determined that no shots had been fired and no gun was involved, police told North Penn Now.
Rumors that a person was tased at the scene were unfounded, according to Upper Gwynedd Deputy Chief Ted Caiola.
As a result of the crash, a 35-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, police said. Charges are pending, and the man is expected to be arraigned sometime on Wednesday, with additional information being provided following arraignment.
Caiola said the large police presence at the scene was also due to the incident occurring on Upper Gwynedd’s border with Lansdale Borough and Towamencin Township.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
