Residents of the Southeastern Veterans Center at Spring City were treated to a horse show exhibition recently, hosted by the Towamencin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
The event was well received by the veterans center last year and by special request it returned in October. Ambulatory residents, those in wheelchairs enjoyed being up close and personal with four miniature horses.
Four young ladies, ages 10 to 15 from the Bits and Pieces 4H Horse Club, led the horses through demonstrations of jumping and trailing skills and answered residents’ questions. One of the horses is a Pennsylvania 4H blue ribbon champion. Towamencin Chapter member Amy Kriebel, owner of the horses, partners with the 4H Club and their youth volunteers to show the horses and participate in community service activities.
