Original story follows...

The search for a runaway teen in Lansdale Borough is continuing after he fled after being located by police on Wednesday.

Flyers about a missing teen flooded social media sites on Wednesday, in an attempt to locate the boy. Those search efforts prompted a release from Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail, who confirmed the boy is a runaway and search efforts are ongoing.

Trail said the boy’s mother reported on Oct. 30 that her 14-year-old son did not return home to their apartment within the Wissahickon Apartment Complex along the 700 block of East Main Street. The preliminary investigation indicated the teen was actively evading his parents and did not desire to return home, police said.

The following day, further investigation determined the boy had spent the night in a common storage area of the apartment building, and evidence obtained from an electronic device indicated the boy was active on social media.

The boy was located by police on Wednesday within the apartment complex, however he fled from the officers, Trail said.

The teen is described as a thin white male with short brown hair, standing approximately 5-feet-6-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a gray Under Armor hoodie with camo sleeves and hood, along with a white Under Armor backpack, a Green Bay Packers beanie, and dark sweatpants.

Trail said the police department’s Mental Health Co-Responder is assisting with the investigation, and coupled with other ongoing investigations related to the missing teen, police will not be releasing the boy’s name or image.
