A brush fire that spread to the drive-through area and interior of Univest Financial’s Skippack branch building at 4285 Township Line Road caused significant damage Wednesday to the bank and has forced it to close, according to a Facebook post from Univest.
“On Wednesday, May 17, there was a fire at our Skippack Financial Center,” wrote Univest Financial on Facebook. “We are grateful that no one was harmed during the incident and for the support of first responders. The building suffered significant damage and will remain closed until further notice.”
Univest wrote customers can visit any of its other local financial centers for assistance, or contact its Customer Care Center at 877-723-5571.
Skippack Fire Company responded to the 4200 block of Township Line Road in Skippack Township at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a commercial building fire. According to its Facebook page, Perkiomen Township Fire Company responded as mutual aid to support Skippack. Trappe Fire Co. No. 1 also responded to the scene and assisted with roof operations, manpower, and traffic control.
Lower Frederick Fire Co., Towamencin Volunteer Fire Co., Upper Providence Township Fire Co., Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Co., Worcester Volunteer Fire Department, Harleysville Fire Co., Skippack Emergency Medical Services, Plymouth Community Ambulance Association, and Volunteer Medical Services Corps Lansdale also assisted at the scene.
The fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.
