Former North Penn Knights Quarterback Reece Udinski Invited to Tryout with Seattle Seahawks

He may not have been drafted in the NFL Draft, but former North Penn Knights quarterback Reece Udinski, 24, may get another chance at a professional football career with his recent rookie mini-camp tryout with the Seattle Seahawks.

“To get this opportunity is a blessing and the one thing I realized it’s extremely hard to even make it this far,” Udinski said in a recent The Reporter article. “There’s so many good players out there in the world that, I don’t know, it’s so challenging to get to this level and the NFL. Just to be able to get a minicamp invite is very hard. So, I’m excited and thankful for that opportunity.”

Udinski, of North Wales, was also contacted in later rounds by the Atlanta Falcons, per the report.

“And I just (decided on) sticking with my original plan of going to the Seahawks, because I felt that was the best opportunity and they had called first, so I just felt most comfortable going there,” he said in the article.

According to Sports Illustrated, Udinski was the second player in Pennsylvania high school history to surpass 4,000 passing yards in a single season, while throwing 39 touchdowns for North Penn. According to The Reporter, he lead the Knights to a District 1-6A title in 2016.

After graduating from North Penn with the Class of 2017, Udinski headed off to Virginia Military Institute, where the Keydet broke school records there, including 7,877 passing yards, consecutive passes without an interception, total yards, pass completions, 200-yard games, and passing touchdowns, eventually named 2019 All-SoCon Second Team.

Udinski then transferred to University of Maryland for graduate school, where he failed to become a starter and instead preserved his final year. He joined the University of Richmond Spiders and registered 377 completions on 514 attempts, 3,612 passing yards, and 29 touchdowns, per The Reporter.

By his final season, Udinski won the 2022 Bill Dudley Award for the top college football player in Virginia and nearly became national Offensive Player of the Year, per reports.

“Looking back, I don’t have any regrets about my college career,” Udinski told The Reporter. “There was definitely ups and downs but I’m very thankful for my time at VMI.”
