2 Killed in Hatfield Township Fire Early Friday Morning

Two people were killed early Friday morning after a fire broke out on the first floor of their Hatfield Township home.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 2800 block of Washington Lane around 4:20 a.m. on May 12 for a report of a residential fire with entrapment. Dispatch notes indicate two people were trapped in a second-floor bedroom with a fully involved fire on the first floor.

Firefighters arrived on scene and worked to rescue the two victims, who were eventually pulled from the blaze. North Penn Now has confirmed that both victims — identified on dispatch as a husband and wife — did not survive. Their identities are not currently known.

The fire has since been placed under control, however crews remain on scene at this time. Units from the Hatfield Township Police Department, Hatfield Fire Company, Fairmount Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company, Perseverance Fire Company, Hilltown Fire Company, and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
