Teen Airlifted After Being Struck by Jeep in Hatfield Monday Afternoon

A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized on Monday afternoon after being struck by a Jeep on East Broad Street in Hatfield Borough.

First responders were dispatched to East Broad Street near the intersection with Cherry Street at 3:46 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck. Police said the teen was struck by a Jeep Wrangler driven by a woman in her 40s, and sources at the scene observed the teen lying in the street as police and EMS provided emergency medical care.

The teen was transported from the scene via ambulance to Lansdale Hospital, where he was then airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment of a possible compound leg fracture and other unknown injuries, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and police said they have not determined if any charges will be filed at this time. Police said they’ve secured video surveillance of the incident and spoke to several witnesses on scene.

Hatfield Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale. The scene was cleared at 4:54 p.m.
