Man Sentenced to Prison for Sexually Assaulting Young Girl in Hatfield

A Bronx, NY man has been sentenced to state prison time after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl in Hatfield Township.

Jordan Torres, 20, was sentenced on Friday to 5½ to 12 years in state prison after pleading guilty to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and endangering the welfare of a child. Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Steven O’Neill additionally sentenced Torres to three years of probation upon his release, and Torres will also face a lifetime sex offender registration requirement upon his release, court records show.

Additional sentencing notes show Torres will undergo a sexually violent predator assessment and a psycho-sexual evaluation. He is also prohibited from having any contact with the victim, and he’s also prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with minors while under court supervision.

Investigators received a ChildLine referral in May 2021 concerning the suspected sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl at her home in Hatfield Township. The referral alleged that Torres — who was 18 years old at the time — took off his clothes in front of the girl and requested oral sex, which she then did.

Torres was known to the victim and her family, however the nature of their relationship is being withheld by this news organization.

In June 2021, the victim was interviewed by police, at which time she disclosed she was being sexually abused by Torres, according to charging documents. The victim stated she was watching cartoons when her parents left and Torres subsequently entered her room, at which point Torres kissed her, took off his clothes and requested oral sex, the report states.

Court records indicate the date of offense as March 1, 2021.

Torres was officially charged on July 8, 2022, and was taken into custody on July 18, 2022. He has remained in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $99,000 cash bail since his arrest, and he will receive credit for 285 days of time served, according to court records.

Additional charges of rape of a child, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual assault, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, and related offenses were dropped as part of the plea agreement with prosecutors.
