A Hatfield woman is facing charges after she allegedly entered a pair of homes on Cowpath Road while under the influence of methamphetamine during the morning of March 1.
Franconia Township Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Cowpath Road at 7:41 a.m. for a report of an unknown female who had entered a home and said she was looking for a family member. Arriving police spoke to the homeowner, who said the female entered their home without permission and said she was looking for her brother. When told she had the wrong house, the woman left the scene, according to charging documents.
The homeowner provided police with a description of the female, as well as a description of her vehicle along with her license plate number, police said.
While on scene, police received a second call regarding a disoriented female who had entered a home along the 700 block of Cowpath Road. They subsequently went to that location, where they made contact with a woman on the porch matching the description provided by the first homeowner, police said.
The woman was identified as 33-year-old Jennifer Biggs, police said. Biggs was holding a purse tightly to her side and fidgeting with her hands, and after searching the purse, police said they recovered a small clear bag which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
The second homeowner told police she had come out of her upstairs bedroom when she encountered Biggs on her staircase, according to charging documents. Biggs was wearing the woman’s clothes while holding a key to the home, and when the homeowner asked her why she was there, Biggs reportedly stated that it was her house, police said.
Biggs then changed out of the homeowner’s clothes and went onto the porch, according to police.
Court records show Biggs was arraigned later that evening on two felony counts of burglary, two felony counts of criminal trespassing, misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and a summary county of public drunkenness.
She was then released on $5,000 unsecured bail, and her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on April 17 at 11:45 a.m. in front of District Judge Albert Augustine.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
