Two women were hospitalized Friday evening after sustaining injuries in a two-vehicle crash on North Wales Road near the Montgomery Mall.
First responders were dispatched to the scene around 6:30 p.m. on March 17 for a report of a crash involving a gray 2019 Kia Sorento and a black 2022 Ford Explorer. Arriving personnel located two injured drivers, with the driver of the Kia — identified as a 62-year-old female — trapped inside of her vehicle.
Crews worked to extricate the female, who was eventually freed and transported via ambulance to Grand View Hospital for treatment of leg, back, and facial injuries, police said. The other driver, identified as a 42-year-old female – sustained a facial laceration and was also transported via ambulance to Grand View Hospital.
North Wales Road was closed for approximately five hours due to the crash, police said. The scene was cleared at 11:28 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and police said no charges have been filed at this time.
Montgomery Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Fairmount Fire Company, Fire Police from FDMT and Fairmount, and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale.
