North Penn School District Business Office Earns Meritorious Budget Award

For the eighth year in a row, the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has awarded the North Penn School District (NPSD) its Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation during the 2022-2023 budget year.

This is the eighth consecutive year that NPSD has earned this award, a demonstration of the district’s commitment to fiscal integrity and transparency in the budget process. During the 2021-2022 school year, only eight school districts in Pennsylvania received this award.

“I am very grateful to the NPSD business office staff for their hard work year-round,” said Steve Skrocki, NPSD Chief Financial Officer. “North Penn is able to receive this award year after year because of our commitment to sound fiscal management and transparency in all that we do.”

ASBO International’s MBA promotes and recognizes best budget presentation practices in school districts. Participants submit their applications and budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the MBA Criteria Checklist and other requirements and provide expert feedback that districts can use to improve their budget documents.

“ASBO International’s MBA program provides school districts with tools and resources to develop a high-quality, easy-to-understand budget to share the district’s goals and objectives internally and with the community,” ASBO International COO/Interim Executive Director Siobhán McMahon explains. “By participating in the programs, districts demonstrate their commitment to upholding nationally recognized budget presentation standards.”
