Second Sin Brewing Drops Plans for Lansdale Taproom After Lease Negotiations Fall Through

One of the worst-kept secrets in the Lansdale business scene has ultimately proven to be a dud, following recent developments.

Ever since Michael Wister announced he was moving his beloved barbecue shop from the 300 block of West Main Street to the former location of Joa Sushi at the Pavilion Shopping Center on South Broad Street, the rumor mill has been churning in regards to who would fill the now empty space next to Scent and Sip. Eventually, those rumors narrowed down to one business entity: Bristol-based Second Sin Brewing Co.

From neighboring businesses to borough employees to the staff here at North Penn Now, we all heard that Second Sin was looking to expand into the Lansdale market via a shiny new taproom on West Main Street. They would join Well Crafted, Round House, Local Tap, and Boardroom Spirits in Lansdale's craft brewery and distillery scenes and fill a prime vacancy at a time of revitalization in the borough.

As it turns out, those rumors actually proved to be true. However, those plans have since been laid to rest.

In an email exchange with Second Sin’s Mike Beresky, we confirmed that Second Sin was indeed pursuing plans to open a taproom in Lansdale Borough. However, Beresky said they couldn’t come to an agreement with Beamed Properties on the space and backed out of lease negotiations.

“We were engaged with the landlord over the last several months on leasing that property,” Beresky said. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it work and we backed out of negotiations last week.”

Beresky added that Second Sin viewed Lansdale as a “town on the rise,” and expressed disappointment with being able to make things work.

“There’s already a great craft beer presence in the town, and we were hoping to add to that,” Beresky said. “All of our experiences with the town and its representatives were great.”

Second Sin is no longer actively pursuing a location in Lansdale, however Beresky said they're still open to doing so in the future.

With plans falling through, Beamed Properties is now back to trying to find an occupant for the 3,900 square foot commercial/retail space. Interested businesses can contact Molly Whitley at [email protected] or via phone at 267-982-4082. A listing for the property can be viewed here.
