Teen Killed in Bethlehem Pike Crash in Hatfield Township Wednesday Night

A teen was killed Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Township.

Emergency response personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Walnut Street just after 9:30 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. A source at the scene said the teen was struck by a Hyundai sedan while attempting to cross Bethlehem Pike at the nearby railroad crossing.

North Penn Now has independently confirmed the teen was transported to Lansdale Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Sources confirm the victim was a 13-year-old boy.

Bethlehem Pike was shut down in both directions for more than seven hours as investigators processed the scene. The road reopened just before 5 a.m. Thursday.

Hatfield Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from Montgomery Township Police, Colmar Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, and VMSC Emergency Medical Services.

Sources say the driver of the vehicle was taken to Lansdale Hospital along with a police escort, however its unclear if they sustained any injuries. A search of the criminal dockets Thursday morning does not show any charges being filed in connection with the incident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Hatfield Township Police Department Highway Safety Unit. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Officer Anthony Baker at 215-855-0903 ext. 260 or by email at [email protected].
