Emergency response personnel are currently at the scene of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Walnut Street in Hatfield Township.
Crews were dispatched to the scene just after 9:30 p.m. this evening for a report of a vehicle crash. A source at the scene said a pedestrian was struck by a Hyundai sedan while attempting to cross Bethlehem Pike at the nearby railroad crossing.
The source said blood is visible in the roadway, and the pedestrian was transported from the scene via ambulance in unknown condition. A witness at the scene stated the victim was a 13-year-old male, however we have been unable to corroborate that detail at this time.
Bethlehem Pike is reportedly shut down in both directions as investigators process the crash scene. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
Hatfield Township Police are being assisted at the scene by units from the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale as well as Colmar and Montgomery Township fire companies.
