Cause of Tuesday Afternoon Crash on Stump Road Remains Under Investigation

Montgomery Township Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Stump Road near the intersection with Orchard Drive.

Police were called to the scene at 3:04 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle crash. A source at the scene said an SUV struck a utility pole, with the driver suffering injuries as a result.

The driver was observed sitting on the ground as emergency medical personnel tended to his injuries. Montgomery Township Police Chief Scott Bendig identified the driver as a 60-year-old male, who suffered a minor hand injury and was transported to Lansdale Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Stump Road was reduced to one lane due to the crash, until the scene was cleared at 3:34 p.m. Montgomery Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Fire Department of Montgomery Township and the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale.
