Fundraiser Launched for Victims of Fire on School Road in Hatfield Township

A fundraiser has been launched for the victims of Thursday’s fire on School Road in Hatfield Township that left one family displaced.

Crews were dispatched to the 1600 block of School Road near the intersection of Bramble Gate Drive at 8:14 a.m. on June 22 for a report of a building fire. Arriving crews encountered smoke coming from the roof and fire from the rear second floor of the home.

Dispatch notes indicated the homeowner was told to evacuate, but added it sounded like they were attempting to locate their dog. According to Ally Villanueva, who is organizing the fundraiser, the homeowner was able to escape the blaze to safety along with their dogs.

Officials from Hatfield Fire Company were able to quickly bring the fire under control, but not before the home suffered significant fire and smoke damage. No injuries were reported among the residents or first responders, officials said.

Villanueva said via the GoFundMe that she is raising money for the family — who have lived in the home for more than 30 years — in order to assist them and show that they won’t have to face the issue alone.

“I would like to ask everyone to help this family in any way possible,” said Villanueva. “Every dollar will make a difference, and I will also reach out to the family to see if they need any physical items we could collect.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hatfield Township Fire Marshal’s Office.

Hatfield Fire Company was assisted at the scene by units from the Hatfield Township Police Department, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, and Hilltown, Lansdale, Souderton, Towamencin, Telford, and Colmar fire companies.
