Police Issue Statement Following Possible Child Luring Attempt in Whitpain Township

Whitpain Township Police have issued a statement following a possible child luring attempt in the area of Erbs Mill Park on Friday morning.

Police said an 11-year-old boy was walking in the area of Erbs Mill and Arlington roads at 9:30 a.m. on June 16 when they were approached by a man in a vehicle who engaged the boy in conversation then asked if he needed a ride. The boy ran to a friend’s house and the vehicle left the area.

The man was described as a white male with brown eyes and no facial hair wearing a bucket-style hat with strings. The vehicle was described as a silver Nissan sedan — possibly a Sentra or Altima — and neighboring police departments have reported similar incidents, police said.

“Whitpain detectives have been speaking with neighbors and checking for any video footage. At this time, there are no further details available,” police said. “We ask that parents speak with their children and remind them to report any suspicious behavior to their parents and police.”

Anyone with information about the incident or similar incidents is asked to contact the Whitpain Township Police Department at 610-279-9033. Police said if a similar incident occurs, residents should immediately dial 911.
