Babysitter Accused of Molesting Young Boy Also Worked at Kiddie Academy of Quakertown

Camryn Taylor, 19, of Quakertown.

A Bucks County woman accused of repeatedly molesting a 5-year-old boy in Chalfont while serving as his babysitter also held a part-time position at Kiddie Academy of Quakertown for the last two years, North Penn Now has learned.

Camryn Taylor, 19, of Quakertown, was charged last Friday with multiple counts of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and corruption of minors, following a two-month investigation by the Central Bucks Regional Police Department. She is currently free after a family member posted 10% of $50,000 cash bail, court records show.

In response to questions from this news organization, Kiddie Academy owner Janel A. Work confirmed that Taylor was a part-time employee at the facility from January 2021 through April 2023. Work said the current allegations against Taylor are unrelated to her work there, and she is no longer an employee.

Work declined to comment further or answer follow-up questions, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.

North Penn Now requested comment from the Central Bucks Regional Police Department regarding whether there may be more victims or if the investigation has expanded, however a spokesperson declined to comment stating the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be provided at the present time.

Investigators were contacted in early April by the mother of the boy, stating her son had indicated he was being molested by his babysitter — identified as Taylor — according to the criminal complaint. The victim indicated that Taylor molested him on multiple occasions while she was babysitting at their home, showing her private areas to the boy, and forcing him to touch them, police said.

During a forensic interview with the Bucks County Child Advocacy Center, the boy said the abuse began when he was 4 years old and provided additional details, adding that Taylor would make him wash his hands afterwards and told him not to tell anyone, according to the complaint.

Taylor was interviewed by police on May 30, where she subsequently admitted that at least one of the incidents detailed by the victim had occurred, police said.

Charges were filed against Taylor on June 12, and she was taken into custody on June 16 and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage. Her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on June 27 at 1 p.m. in front of Judge Armitage.

The arrest comes one year after an employee at the Harleysville Kiddie Academy — identified as Melanda Tyler, 22, of Lansdale — was arrested after allegedly grabbing a 3-year-old child by the arm and forcibly tossing him onto a cot. The facility provided the following statement after her arrest:

Kiddie Academy released the following statement when asked for further comment:

On March 22, 2022, a staff member was observed handling a preschool child in an unacceptable manner. Upon learning of the incident, we immediately terminated the staff member’s employment as this behavior is not tolerated at our academy. Fortunately, the child sustained no injuries, and the incident was reported to licensing authorities and Child Protective Services.

We are a local, family-owned independent business and parents ourselves, who care deeply about the children in our care and our community. There is nothing more important than creating a nurturing and safe environment for the children in our care, and their families – it is our life’s commitment.

Our team is dedicated to sound leadership decisions, swiftly addressing concerns, aligning with local licensing bodies, and ensuring that the trust of each family is earned and maintained. We will continue to fully cooperate with local authorities during any further investigation of this matter.

Kiddie Academy of Harleysville is an independently owned and operated franchise location.

Tyler is currently awaiting trial on a felony child endangerment charge along with a summary harassment charge.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
